Regent’s Park Music Festival

Now in it’s 8th Year - Bigger and Better

Regent’s Park Music Festival is now in its eighth year and becoming one of London’s premier classical and popular music festivals. This year’s free festival will run from 21 June – 21 September, featuring 30 top bands for Sundays on the main Bandstand and 15 jazz groups for Saturday on the Broadwalk.

From Friday 25 July, The St. John’s Lodge ‘Secret’ Garden will be home to three concerts this summer following last year’s hugely successful series. There will also be two concerts for families and children in the open air. Our marquee at the bandstand will be in place as a backup if it rains.

From July 31 to August 3 ticketed events will take place in our Marquee at the Bandstand. The highlight will be a day with Karl Jenkins -one of Britain’s most performed composers. John Suchet will host “an afternoon in conversation with Karl“, and his “Mass for the Armed Man” will be performed. Please keep an eye on the official website.

Hyde Park Super Nursery Tour

Tuesday 29th April, 4pm – 5:30pm
Thursday 1st May, 4pm – 5:30pm

Hidden in the centre of Hyde Park, the Hyde Park Super Nursery covers several acres and is not open to the public.

In May it is packed with flowers ready to go to seven of London’s Royal Parks, including the flowerbeds in front of Buckingham Palace. The nursery manager will take us around and enlighten us with how the plants are grown and managed, as well as providing us with the history of the nursery.

Summer Plant Sale!

Each year the Royal Parks provide the nursery with a bedding design which dictates which plants are grown.

On Wednesday 2nd July, Hyde Park Nursery will hold a sale of summer plants which are surplus to their needs – Friends are welcome to attend!

Bee Walk - NEW!

Monday 9th June, 11:00 a.m

There are 270 species of bees in the UK. Some bees will be foraging and nesting in Regent’s Park, however only one species is a honeybee. The rest are wild bees, including large, plump hairy bumblebees and others which nest alone.

On this two hour bee walk, we will see and learn about a variety of bee species visiting flowers in the dry, Mediterranean garden; the herbaceous perennial borders; and in the allotment where they will be pollinating fruits and vegetables and nesting in bee hotels. The walk will be led by Alison Benjamin, Director of Urban Bees and bestselling author of ‘The Good Bee: A Celebration of Bees and How to Save Them’. Each participant will be given a Bees to See in Regent’s Park guide and learn the best ways to help bees in their own garden or balcony.
