Many happy memories are made in playgrounds; the ones located at Regent’s Park are no exception. Located at all points of the compass, these areas are suitable for kids up to 12 years of age. They offer swings, slides, sandpits and climbing frames – one even boasts a zip wire! Primrose Hill and Gloucester Gate have been recently renovated. Enjoy the convenience of nearby cafés and changing facilities for a fun, worry-free day.

Primrose Hill Playground

Primrose Hill Playground is situation to the North of the Regent’s Park site, next to the Primrose Hill Cafe. After recent renovations to the site, the playground contains a central sandpit with a water play feature, replicating a beachside environment. It is wheelchair-accessible with a raised table, allowing children of all abilities to play together.

The playground features more nature-driven structures for kids to enjoy such as a wobbly wooden bridge, tree logs and boulders.

Marylebone Green Playground

Close to the Park entrance from Regent’s Park or Great Portland Street underground stations, this playground is in the south east corner of the Park. The playground has the usual climbing frames, swings and rides, and also has one very long slide, a climbing wall, a hammock swing, and a large sandpit with running water for playing. In addition, there are some unusual tree trunks, perfect for balancing games and races.

There are toilet and baby changing facilities, as well as a useful shelter with benches for parents and wetter days. A small kiosk offers coffee, tea, cold drinks, snacks and ice creams.

Hanover Gate Playground

Near to the Park entry opposite the Central London Mosque is this varied and interesting playground, with slides, swings and climbing frames, and some ropes and suspended rope ladders for daredevil children to climbing. There is a toilet block, with baby changing facilities, and it is close to the Boathouse Café and the boating pond for children. Pedalos and boats to go on the lake can be hired nearby.

Gloucester Gate Playground

Gloucester Gate playground is built on the site of one of the original Park houses, St Katherine’s Lodge, that was bombed in WW2 and later demolished. The mound on which it was built can still be seen.

Fond memories of childhood joy inspired the Regent’s Park team to launch a funding appeal to completely rebuild the space in 2020. Now, many more children can make memories that will last a lifetime.

As well as all the usual swings and roundabouts, it has a zip wire, multiple slides, and a large sandpit. Toilet and baby changing facilities are available, and the nearest café is on Broadwalk. 50 metres away is a climbing frame, with multiple branches and a rope net to be explored.
