In 2023 Vincent Ong led two walks instructing people in how to improve their smart phone photography. The feedback after these walks was exceptional. Join Vincent again in a springtime walk to learn how to take great pictures with your smart phone, improve not only what you are already doing but also improve your editing skills. No experience necessary, just bring your smart phone and get snapping.
COST: £5 for Friends.
More of us are living in homes without a garden but have an outdoor space or balcony suitable for growing plants in containers. We are delighted that Sophie Guinness, Head of Horticulture at Capel Manor College, has agreed to lead a hands-on workshop on growing plants in pots to make a town garden in limited space.
COST: £40 for Friends. Only open for Friends. Non-members cannot attend.
PLEASE NOTE:
Once you have signed up and paid for this event we will pay the course provider, therefore no money can be refunded if you cannot attend for any reason. You can, however, transfer your place to somebody else.
There is nothing better on a June evening than “messing about on the river”. In Regent’s Park we do not have a river – but we do have two boating lakes, one of which is for small children. The Royal Parks have generously offered to Friends and their families a free half-hour session on each lake on this evening. Food and drink will be available from the Boat House Café (which will not be free).
COST: Free to Friends and their family. No guests.
PLEASE NOTE:
Friends who wish to come, with or without families, must register in advance. Registration will close on the 30th May. Please remember to bring with you proof of Friends membership. 1 per family.
NO NEED TO BOOK, JUST COME – BUT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF YOU WOULD REGISTER SO WE CAN ENSURE SUFFICIENT BOATS ARE AVAILABLE TO MINIMISE WAITING
Following the outstanding success of the Big Coronation Lunch on The Broadwalk last year, we have arranged a Summer Celebration in the Park, which we hope will become an annual event. With your support, it will and it is great fun!
Enjoy and participate in the free entertainment, which this year is a celebration of British music and folk dance as you have never before seen it performed.
Join the Friends on the Broadwalk for The Big Lunch. Book now to secure a much sought after table, invite family and friends and bring your own picnic or buy one in the Park.
COST: £10 per person for a single table place. £50 for a whole table of 6 places
Book soon as places are limited. Fun for the whole family. Nearer the time it will be possible to order a picnic from Benugo Bar & Kitchen.
Walking in The Regent’s Park you see plants and trees not only native to the U.K. but from all over the world. Do you paint? Do you draw or would you like to learn to, or perhaps perfect a budding talent? Jessie Brown is our gifted resident artist whose work adorns all the communications, newsletters and posters from the Friends. He has kindly agreed to lead a two-hour seasonal art session in the Park to help you begin, or indeed improve, your sketching and painting. Bring your own materials, water colours, pencils or pastels and a chair if required. This will be a highly enjoyable artistic session in the open air.

This hands-on workshop is perfect for both beginners and for those who have an interest in arranging summer cut flowers for the home.
The workshop will include an introduction and demonstration from the tutor who will talk you through the key fundamentals of arranging cut flowers in different types of containers. The session will be your opportunity to experiment and create your very own design to take home and enjoy.
We will provide any needed tools and equipment, but we require you to bring along your own seasonal cut flowers up to the value of £10 as a guide and your own container/vase for your creations.

As everyone files out of the park, come on in and join Charlotte Cass for a walk at dusk, just as the park’s nocturnal creatures are coming out to feed. Be guided through Regent’s Park in search of bat species, spiders building their nests, toads crossing roads and foxes. Charlotte will tell you all about the adaptations that nocturnal creatures use to hunt and survive in the darkness plus the issues many of these threatened animals face. Bat detectors and torches will be provided. Event could be cancelled at short notice if weather is foul, so please include your phone number when booking. Bat detectors provided.
